Over 50 animals were mysteriously discovered dead in Kenema.

In Benduma Town, Makegohun Chiefdom, Kenema District, Eastern Sierra Leone, more than 50 animals—goats and sheep among them—have inexplicably perished. Osman Saffa, one of the affected farmers, claims that nine of his goats unexpectedly perished. He claimed that they were discovered the following day, dead, standing still and with running noses.

Saffa requested assistance from the government and those in charge, claiming that this is the first instance of a scenario like this involving their town's animals. He continued by saying that they are losing their animals on a regular basis without having the chance to consume them.

A team will be sent right away to the community to investigate the incident, according to Mathew S. Turay, a Community Animal Health Worker (CAHW) from the livestock and veterinary division in Kenema of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The department has just received information about the incident.

Speaking of their difficulties, he claimed that some members of the neighbourhood refused to treat their pets.

He added that the ministry offered free medical care to animals and claimed that they solely believed in treating them with warm water and herbs.
