The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed charges against Salam Salim Sheriff, a Computer Programmer employed at the West African Examination Council (WAEC), and Aminata Kamara, a candidate in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), for their alleged involvement in exam malpractice and corruption.
The charges, including Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, Engaging in Academic Malpractice, and Abuse of Office, stem from actions purportedly taken between June 1, 2019, and May 31, 2021, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Salim Sheriff and Aminata Kamara are accused of colluding with unidentified individuals to manipulate Kamara's WASSCE 2020 exam results.
Salim Salim Sheriff is set to face trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone in Freetown on February 22nd, 2024. Meanwhile, Aminata Kamara, who is currently at large, will be tried in absentia under relevant legal provisions.
